art for little girls

i'm so happy i was finally able to put up some seriously girly-with a dark aftertaste-
posters in anna's room.

this tara mc pherson one

and this ray caesar one from an exhibition i saw in rome

they're like my baby: cute and sweet and a little bit mischievous.

sick

sick day

being sick sucks.

taking antibiotics sucks. my stomach hurts already.

i've been an adult about it this time and went to see a doctor after two weeks of feeling like crap.

just hope the little bear won't catch it this way.

day off today.

tomorrow i get to dress her up as the little witch she is.

bring on the fog

bring on the fog

the fog is back bigtime.

that's ok bc i got my new shoes in the mail today and they're shiny.

love that.

also love the burgundy-coral combination for some reason.

it's unexpected. it works.

it wakes me up from this white comatose haze of a day.

gone antiquing

Senza titolo #8

so i saw this rug i really liked.

a traditional rug more pinkish than red, huge. wool, made in belgium so machine woven but who cares if it looks great and costs 150 francs?

turns out that having it dry cleaned would cost 2-3 times the cost of the rug itself.

crazy!

only in switzerland, right?

made me love my cheap, clean & easy ikea rug.

i mean, what am i supposed to do? go to france to have it cleaned? live with a used rug under my feet?

takes the fun out of going to the junk shops...

it's all about shoes

i got 50 euro the other day as a birthday present

so i bought these on asos

not a bad price for leather shoes.

last time i had a pair of oxfords i wore them very little.

i hope to like them better this time around.

how to frame large art

i've been getting a huge headache trying to figure out how to frame this huge eboy poster

i blogged about it here

you can get it here

fortunately a picture came to my rescue right before damn mercury went retro

pretty cool huh?

then i found this too to cement it all in my brain

finding affordable large art is such a bitch.

and when you do then you have to spend more than what you paid for the artwork (or 4 times as much if you live in switzerland like me) to get it fucking framed.

not to mention that last time i did that i had to leave the whole thing behind when we moved bc it was so fucking big.

so, recapping: i'll buy 8 ikea frames, cut that bad boy up and finally have something to hang over the couch on the biggest wall i've ever seen.

and next time we move it'll be easy to pack, too.

up yours, hornbach!

ode to foundation

not sure why it took me so long to jump on the wagon.

thank you for making me look normal again. thanks for not being cakey or shiny.

now i can wear minimal makeup like this

and look ok.

it's such a relief to look human again.

You scored 19 out of 20!

Congrats you are...
True Kvlt.

Either you work at IKEA or you played drums for Bathory, because your knowledge is at the level of dare we say it, the cloven hooved one himself. That’s right, we’re talking about Ingvar Kamprad. We’re almost afraid to ask you to peep out our agency site. But please do, oh dark master.
We bow to you, Your friends at Gatesman+Dave.

investing

we've been trying to fix our finances for months.

not in the sense that they're in a bad shape, just all over the place
or at least in the us, italy and switzerland aka our last three homes.

so while will is busy studying investments and is sweet enough to ask for my input about what we should invest in (all he got out of me was "shoes" "and "ikea")

i clearly have no idea

but

i do know now what we need to invest in in terms of our interiors.

someday if we ever own a house it will be a smeg fridge and thonet chairs.

(psst! i will love you almost as much as i love my family.)

right now it's art.

now we can neither afford paintings
nor could we ever agree on anything-color, subject etc.

so i had an epiphany, we should get some photographs.

i've got it down to a set by kari herer

her antlers remind me of moving to switzerland, anna's birth and the flowers of my wedding bouquet, just the biggest events in my life

and if i can convince will to get me an early and expensive xmas present, we both liked maison gray's aerial beach prints a lot

i've been really pleased with the bear cub print i bought from sharon montrose earlier this year

so i figure why not? photography is the way to go.

ideal house tour

let's start from the bedroom. it would look like this.

masculine and minimal yet cozy. love the painting placement too.
the master bathroom is shinyville
the living room would also be in black and white and very simple.
no frills or fear of mussing things up.
then i would hang a mirror over the sofa like this. classic and easy.
of course there would be a fireplace. duh. here it is.

i like these knitted floor pillows a lot too.

i would have a beautiful huge fiddle fig tree in there too obvs.

there would be exposed beams in the house and white walls

except where i would use some blue-black.

the studio would look like this

all interesting and effortless

and anna's room would be a lowbrow art work in progress like this

moving on the kitchen would be all lived in and inviting and it would be the place where everyone loves to hang out.

outside it would be bunches of hydrangeas by the pool

and some more simple potted hydrangeas by the lawn.

thank you for checking out my fantasy home.

i'll be at ikea this weekend squinting real hard to make the things i buy look something like this.
